2012 is Ren Chen Year, Chen Dragon, the movement of wood is the strongest one.
SI TIAN: Tai Yang Cold water;
ZAI QUAN: Tai Yin Humid earth ;
Ren is Yang wood,it means this year the wind will be very often.
Chen is Tai Yang cold water, the cold Qi will be the main one in the first half year;In the second half year,Tai Yin humid earth is on the position of Zai Quan,humid will be the main Qi in the second half year.
So now,we know the main three Qi of 2012 is: wind, cold, humid.

Here we could predict the common situation of 2012:
The 1st Qi (Jan.21 to Mar.20):the main Qi is JueYin wind wood, the “guest” Qi is Shaoyang minister fire, wood produce fire,normal weather.The weather will become warm with few rain. It´s the moment when the people will be attacked by wind cold or wind heat, to be exact, Common cold (or flu) is the main disease. The treatment method is dispel the wind and liberate the surface: Gui Zhi Tang, Ma Huang Tang, Ma xing Shi Gan Tang and so on will be useful.

The second Qi( Mar. 21 to May 21): the main Qi is ShaoYin emperor fire, the guest Qi is Yangming Dry metal, fire conquer metal.Because the main Qi of first half year is cold water,the fire could be controlled by water.The weather change will be continue to be normal,it will become hot, rains normally.Disease:heart Yin will be difficient,insomnia,chest stuffiness,nasal bleeding, yellow urine,constipation,dry red tongue with few tongue coating. Bai Hu Tang, Xie Xin Tang,Huang Lian A Jiao Tang,Da Chen Qi Tang,Zhu Ye Shi Gao Tang and so on will be useful.
(To be Continued…)

Chinese medicine has been practiced for about 5,000 years, but it was not until about 2,500 years ago that the theory of Chinese medicine began to emerge, with the appearance of the masterpiece ‘The Yellow Emperor’s Classics of Internal Medicine’.

‘The Yellow Emperor’s Classics of Internal Medicine ‘ is a record of the conversation between the Yellow Emperor and his top advisors. They discuss not only physiology, pathology, and the diagnosis and treatment of the disease, but also astronomy, geology, and philosophy. The Yellow Emperor’s Classics of Internal Medicine states that everything that exists is related; it is not possible to draw accurate conclusions by isolating one subject.

Several famous masterpieces have had a significant influence on Chinese medicine, including ‘Classic of Questioning’, which was published around the same time as ‘The Yellow Emperor’s Classics of Internal Medicine’. ‘Classic of Questioning’ talks about fundamental Chinese medicine theory and disease treatments using 81 questions and answers.

In addition, ‘Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Diseases and Miscellaneous Diseases’ was a great diagnosis book on diseases. This book was later reorganized into the famous ‘Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Diseases’.

Furthermore, ‘Sheng Nong’s Herbal Classic’, which was also published around the same time as ‘The Yellow Emperor’s Classics of Internal Medicine’, is the earliest pharmacology book in Chinese history and was used as a medicine textbook for a very long time.

More than one thousand years later, medical books such as ‘The Pulse Classic and Invaluable Prescriptions for Ready Reference’ played key roles in the development of Chinese medicine.

The most important and famous herb medicine book is, of course, ‘Bencao Gangmu (Compendium of Materia Medica)’, written by Dr. Li Shizhen during the Ming Dynasty more than 430 years ago. Li Shizhen spent more than 30 years collecting substances and information, researching and practicing medicine, and then put his experiences and knowledge into this magnificent masterpiece, which remained the pharmaceutical materia medica of China until about 50 years ago.

Many other medical works have emerged throughout the history of Chinese medicine. These works and the people who created them made significant contributions to the medical world, thereby increasingly developing traditional Chinese medicine and helping more and more people in the world achieve good health though natural ways.

Bian Que (扁鹊): (pronounced: Pien Ch’üeh) (407BC to 310 BC): the most famous doctor of the Chun Qiu dynasty. His real name was Qing Yue Ren. Because of his brilliant and amazing medical skills, people named him Bian Que—meaning lucky bird who can always bring cures and happiness to people—which at the time referred to all legendary doctors with outstanding skills.

Hua Tuo (华佗): (145 to 208): Hua Tuo lived during the end of the East Han dynasty and the beginning of the Three Kingdom period—a dark time with endless wars and natural disasters. Many people became infected with febrile disease. Hua Tuo traveled from place to place to treat diseases and save lives. He worked numerous medical miracles. He was the first person to use anesthesia during surgery.

Zhang Zhong Jing (张仲景) (around 152 ~ 217): This Eastern Han physician was one of the most eminent Chinese physicians and was called the sage of the medicine at the time. He summed up the medicinal experience up until his time, making a great contribution to the development of traditional Chinese medicine. His masterpiece ‘Treatise on Cold Pathogenic and Miscellaneous Diseases’ was the earliest diagnosis book. His research and theory set the clinical standard for traditional Chinese medicine.

Ge Hong (葛洪)（284～364 or 343）: During the Jin Dynasty, he was most famous for his Daoism, alchemy, and medical techniques. His surviving works include ‘Hagiographies (Shenxian Zhuan)’, ‘The Master of Preserving simplicity (Baopuzi)’, and ‘Prescriptions for Emergent Reference’, among others.

Sun Simiao (孙思邈) （541 or 581 ~ 682）: He lived at least 101 years—quite the long life! He was a famous traditional Chinese medicine doctor during the Sui and Tang Dynasties who was called the King of Medicine. He left over 80 works, including ‘Invaluable Prescriptions for Ready Reference’ and ‘Supplement to Invaluable Prescriptions for Ready Reference’. He was a man of great love and morality. He stated in his work ‘The sincerity and honesty of a great physician (Da Yi Jing Cheng)’:

“When a great physician is treating a patient, he must first calm his heart and set his mind, desire for nothing, have a heart full of love and mercy. He will pledge to save all people who are suffering; he should not pay attention to status, wealth, or age, and neither should he question whether the particular person is attractive or unattractive, whether he is an enemy or friend, whether he is a Chinese or a foreigner, whether he is uneducated or educated. He should meet everyone on equal grounds. He should always act as if he were thinking of his close relatives….”

Ye Tianshi (叶天士) （1666 ~1745）: This famous doctor during the Qing Dynasty was known for his outstanding medical skills and humble learning attitude. All his medical masterpieces were collected and edited by his student as he was too busy treating his patients.

Qian Yi ( 钱乙) （1032 ~1113）: During the Song Dynasty, he became the first pediatrician in Chinese history. His most famous work is ‘Key to Therapeutics of Children’s Diseases’.

Zhu Danxi ( 朱丹溪) （1281~1358）: Zhu Danxi was a brilliant doctor during the Yuan Dynasty who always cured the disease with just one prescription. People called him ‘Single prescription Zhang.’ His works include ‘Further Discourses (Zhi Ge Yu Lun)’ and ‘Elaboration of Bureau Prescription’.
Huangfu Mi (皇甫谧) （215~282）: Between the East Han and West Jin Dynasties, Huangfu Mi became one of the most famous scholars in Chinese history, making significant contributions to medicine, literacy, and history. His most famous work is ‘Classified Classics on Acupuncture and Moxibustion’.

Li Shizhen(李时珍) （1518 ~1593）: As one of the greatest physicians and pharmacologists in Chinese history, Li Shizhen lived during the Ming Dynasty. His superior medical skills led him to be chosen to work for the empire as a royal doctor; however, his passion for serving the common people and for engaging in medical research led him to leave the empirical palace several years later. He spent more than 30 years traveling thousands of miles to collect substances and information, to research and practice medicine, and to gather everything into his magnificent masterpiece ‘Compendium of Materia Medica (Ben Cao Gang Mu)’, which described 1,892 drugs in detail, including 1,100 illustrations and 11,000 prescriptions. It remained China’s pharmaceutical materia medica until about 50 years ago.

Of course,this kind of acupunturist can always have some clients in Portugal,because Portuguese people does not know what is the acupuncture,many people has the idea that acupuncture is to put needles.However,a professional acupuncturist can easily find that the treatment is nothing,full of needles show that he/she does not understand how to treat diseases with acupuncture at all.
No need to worry about it,because one day only those with quality will continue to work with acupuncture,and the other will lose their clients.Nothing can escape from this rule.
My poor Portuguese friends…

It is not easy to choose the right points for your patients,even you have studied very well the theory during your course.You feel that there are many points co…uld be useful—according to what is written in your books.As someone said,you can always use BaiHui and Ying Tang for every patient, Because they can calm them down. If you believe it,you can choose also all other points,because no point will kill your patients.However this is not Chinese Medicine.Just like this point,Tianshu,Mu point of Large intestine,we were told that it is useful for constipation and diarrhea, why for many times it does not work with your patients?For example,you have two patient,you know one is cold case and the other is hot case,how to differ them?There is a easy way:the cold one is with clear white urine,meanwhile the other is with strong yellow urine.Then you put a needle on Tian Shu,one get effect and other no.Now it is the time to stay with headache,why the other didn´t work?You were right,you have chosed the right point,the only reason is that you need make moxibustion on the same point the cold case. Is it easy????!!!!
